Wood U Waste's wood briquettes are 100% recycled

Wood U Waste’s Briquette Project has formed effective links with many groups in the local community and also promotes the effective recycling of waste sawdust. We work, amongst others, with the prisoners at Leyhill, local joiners, community outlets and a team of dedicated volunteers. Neighbourhood Wardens from Stroud District Council and Village Agents help to deliver free packs and can offer additional help to vulnerable recipients if needed.

Our sawdust briquettes are made from 100% pure sawdust and make a wonderful fuel supplement for all  woodburners, parkrays and open fires. They are particularly good for starting fires and keeping them burning longer. Great value at just £3 per pack. Find out where to buy briquettes.

Briquettes help keep a home warm in winter

Briquettes help keep a home warm in winter

Wood U Waste relies on income from briquette sales via local community-based charities and shops in order to be able to give away packs for free. For every pack you buy, Wood U Waste aims to give away a free pack on your behalf to a local person at risk from fuel poverty. Volunteers, Neighbourhood Wardens and Village Agents help us to deliver the free packs. Find out more about free briquette deliveries.

The briquettes are made by prisoners at Leyhill Open Prison in Gloucestershire using waste sawdust from local joiners. The sawdust is free of all additives and put through a compressing machine to make the sawdust briquettes. Find out more about briquette manufacture.

The product is not a unique one, but its connection with the alleviation of fuel poverty locally certainly is. The Briquette Project, run by the charity Wood U Waste, has won two prestigious awards so far.
