Wood U Waste volunteers pick up waste sawdust from local joiners and furniture makers to supplement the supply used from Leyhill Prison’s woodworking workshop. This ensures that less sawdust goes to landfill. The sawdust is pure, with no MDF, resins or glues in the mix, so you can be sure that the briquettes won’t harm your woodburner, open fireplace or parkray in any way. If you are using our briquettes on the BBQ  your food will taste delicious!

The sawdust is made into briquettes by the compressing machine at Leyhill. The machine is operated by prisoners who also wrap the briquettes in strong plastic ready for transport to the outlets. This plastic wrap can be used again if it is returned to the briquette retail outlet in good condition.
