SDC's Neighbourhood Wardens help us to deliver free bags
The main objective of the Briquette Project is to deliver as many free packs of briquettes as possible to the elderly and vulnerable in the Stroud District.
To do this we sell packs via community outlets and for every pack sold, we aim to deliver a pack for free to a local person who is struggling to keep their home warm in winter and really needs the free warmth that the briquettes provide.
Wood U Waste has a number of dedicated volunteers who deliver briquettes regularly to households at risk of fuel poverty. We are also helped by Stroud District Council’s Neighbourhood Wardens and the Village Agents who work in the more rural areas.

A Village Agent delivers free Wood U Waste briquettes
Both the Neighbourhood Wardens and Village Agents know their local communities well and can ensure that the free briquettes supplies are delivered to the people who most need them. We are grateful for their ongoing help in identifying the most vulnerable in our district.
Last winter we supplied approximately forty households at risk of fuel poverty on a regular basis, and we hope to increase this number during the 2011-12 winter season.
Do you know somebody who is elderly and/or vulnerable and would benefit from a free supply of briquettes for their open fire, wood burner or parkray? If so, please get in touch.
